Diamond Valley Community Support (DVCS) offers part-time student placements for people completing Community Services and Social Work qualifications.


We understand placements can feel daunting, our goal is to provide a safe learning environment where students can build confidence while gaining genuine experience.

What You’ll Experience:

At DVCS you won’t just be observing. You’ll be actively learning alongside experienced workers in a supportive setting.

Students may have opportunities to:

​

  • Participate in supported client intake interviews

  • Observe risk assessment and safety planning

  • Learn trauma-informed communication skills

  • Understand referral pathways and community networks

  • Take part in case discussions and reflective practice

  • Work on service improvement or community projects

  • Develop professional documentation skills

  • Build confidence working in a real service environment​​

Who Can Apply:

We accept students completing:

​

Community Services

  • Certificate III

  • Certificate IV

  • Diploma

​

Higher Education

  • Bachelor of Social Work

  • Masters of Social Work

  • Or similar welfare/community service qualifications requiring placement

​

We are happy to liaise with placement coordinators to meet course requirements.​​

Placement Structure

  • Minimum commitment: 200 hours

  • Attendance: 2–3 days per week

  • Hours: 9:30am – 4:00pm

  • Part-time placements available

Support & Supervision

​​

  • We prioritise student wellbeing and learning.

  • You will receive:

  • Regular supervision

  • Debriefing after challenging client interactions

  • Gradual introduction to client work

  • Guidance from experienced community support workers

  • A trauma-informed and respectful workplace environment

 

Our aim is for students to leave feeling capable, confident and job-ready.
